Why Your Good Employees Get Hired Away and a Simple Way to Slow that Down

When I interview Executives and Business Owners I’m still surprised at how many of these people complain about losing their good people.  One of the biggest reasons you may be losing your brightest and best may be because of the way you hired them.  Most of us instinctively want to hire someone who is already competent at the job they’re filling.  But that may not be the best thing to do.

The missing piece in this puzzle is that in order for a good hire to become a great employee it’s helpful if they can’t do all of the job their being hired to fill.  They need to grow into the job or they’ll shortly be growing out of it.
