 R. Douglas Carter graduated from college with Honors in three years rather than the usual four. His major in Educational Psychology with a specialty in Behavior Modification has laid the foundation for helping achieve rapid results for both himself and others. He expanded his understanding of how to get results in an MA program in Political Sociology and Collective Behavior at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He specializes in creating ways to dramatically improve effectiveness and efficiency.
For practical experience he spent five years working as a “troubleshooter” for a regional restaurant chain based in the Pacific Northwest. He worked in 12 restaurants in five years and developed a system to turn around troubled restaurants in less than 30 days. He had 1500 employees in 3 states and by the time he left he had trained 41% of all managers and assistant managers in the company. In 1978 he participated in the world famous Dale Carnegie Course in Effective Speaking and Human Relations. Impressed by their “common sense” approach for getting better results with other people Carter began looking for a career in the Speaking and Training Industry.
He worked full-time with the World’s oldest and largest adult training company for 8 years, the last 3 as the Regional Manager for the Western United States and Canada. As a salesperson he was one of the top ten individual producers out of over 1000 salespeople in 68 countries. As the Regional Manager he researched, created, and implemented a special field-training project to increase productivity from 500% to 1000% in less than 3 years. Within six months of inception 87.5 of all participating locations had record production, some locations reaching 228% and 234% of their quota.
By the time he left the organization Doug Carter was one of only 3 trainers who were certified to train instructors in any one of the company’s eight Training Programs anywhere in the world.
In 1987 Carter was “hired away” by Robbins Research International, Inc. His original assignment was to design a plan for creating 25 duplicable Sales and Training Centers. Within 2 months he was asked by Anthony Robbins to become the Chief Executive Officer of Robbins Research International, Inc. During his tenure he slowed the employee turnover from 8% per week to 3.5% per month, restructured the corporate debt, installed the corporate training department and helped Tony Robbins create material for 2 of the major programs now being presented by Robbins Research, Inc.
Since 1988 Doug Carter has conducted his own Trainings and Interactive Speaking Programs. He also develops and delivers custom training programs for many organizations. He specializes in dramatically increasing sales, efficiency, and profitability.
Carter does this by having the participants experience first hand the new skills everyone is learning. You get to practice what you are learning before you leave the meeting.
